How to Make Friends While Backpacking Through Europe

How to Make Friends While Backpacking Through Europe

Now that the impact of covid is coming to an end, something that a lot of people are considering is travelling. For a lot of us, it has been more than two years since we have been able to travel. Though we have been able to travel throughout the Covid period, there were a lot of restrictions that made being able to do so rather difficult.

For example, you had to pay for additional testing on top of what you paid for your holiday and you also had to have your vaccinations, which some people simply didn’t agree with. Though there are still some restrictions in place, it is still possible to go travelling and if you are someone that has been eager to go for some time, then now is the best time frame that we have seen for some time.

If you are desperate to head out on holiday, but your friends and family are still a bit worried about potentially catching covid, then you may feel as though you have to wait until they are ready before you go.

Though this may make sense to you, doing so will be a big mistake. Something that you should remember is that the events of covid have taught us all that we are not promised tomorrow and we should make the most of the life that we have.

Though the idea of travelling alone may be scary, you have to imagine it more as an opportunity to experience life and create fantastic memories that you will be able to look back on in fondness.

Something else that you have to remember is that just because you are setting off on your journey alone does not necessarily mean that you have to be alone throughout your travels. You are not the only person who is going to go travelling on your own and it is likely that throughout your travels you are bound to encounter other people that will be more than happy to share your travelling experience with you.

If you are someone that is quite shy, then the idea of making friends when you are alone may seem scary and even impossible. We understand how intimidating it can be, as nobody likes the idea of being rejected when trying to form a connection with someone. Here is how to make friends while backpacking through Europe.

How to Make Friends While Backpacking Through Europe

Stay In Hostels

For some of the more snobbish people out there, there is a stigma when it comes to staying in hostels when you are travelling. Hostels are considered to be cheap and dirty, but that is not the case at all.

Hostels are a great tool to use if you are backpacking through multiple countries for a number of reasons. First of all, they are incredibly cheap and you can expect to pay no more than twenty dollars a night to stay in a hostel.

Secondly, you usually have to share rooms within a hostel and if you are travelling alone, you will likely have to share with strangers. There is no better way to make new friends than sharing rooms with someone. You also tend to share common areas and people are often very happy to talk about what they are doing and where they have been travelling. If you have already been through a few European countries, then it is likely that you have already had some amazing experiences and you have had some brilliant stories that you can share. Don’t be afraid to get involved in conversations and share your experiences, as this is a great way to bond with new people and make some brand new friends.

Approach People in Bars and Cafes

A big part of travelling is taking in local culture and trying local cuisine. If you head to a bar to see what the local nightlife is like, don’t be afraid to reach out to some of the people that you meet there.

In every bar, you are bound to find a traveller sharing stories about his experience on the road. Don’t be afraid to talk to them and ask him these questions about his travelling adventures, such as where have you been and have you met any interesting people while on the road?

How to Travel on a Budget

How to Travel on a Budget

For the past year or so, we have unfortunately been in a situation where we have been unable to travel for safety reasons. The pandemic meant that millions of people were forced to cancel any holidays that they had booked, and as a result, a lot of people lost out of hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Unfortunately, none of the travel companies were prepared for a random worldwide pandemic, and so they were unable to reimburse anyone that lost money.

Now that the borders around the world are open once again, everyone is excited to head on holiday. However, if you lost a lot of money at the start of the pandemic, you may not have a lot of cash to spare for your next trip. Being low on money does not mean that you can’t head on holiday, you just have to budget. If you have never had to travel on a budget before, the prospect of doing so may be scary, but here are some tips that you can use when you next do so.

Don’t Be Afraid to Use Coupons

For some reason, a lot of people feel some sort of odd shame when it comes to using coupons. Using coupons is an extremely effective way to save money and if you check out places like zone coupon codes, you are bound to find ways to cut down on your next holiday. If you are in need of new holiday clothes, there is a coupon for that. Maybe you want to cut down on transport to the airport, there is a coupon for that. There is no shame in wanting to save money and any money you save on preparing for your holiday can be spent making your holiday more enjoyable.

Use Public Transport

When you go on holiday, you may be tempted to pay for taxis or coaches to get you to your destination. Depending on where you go on holiday, the taxi services may be extremely expensive. To save yourself spending a large chunk of your holiday fund on transport, you can instead choose to take the bus or the train. If you feel overwhelmed by the prospect of using public transport in an unfamiliar location, all you need to do is ask the locals for some advice and they will point you in the right direction and save you a lot of money.

Don’t Pay For Tours

When you go on holiday, it is standard practice to pay for some sort of tour or experience to learn more about the country. Instead of paying a lot of money for these tours, we recommend that you take the time to explore the locations by yourself. This will not only save you a lot of money, but it will also give you the chance to learn more about the more hidden parts of the country. Instead of depending on someone that is trained to take you on these tours, you can get all of the same information for free simply by asking the local people.

Why You Should Consider Visiting Australia in 2021

Australia is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world attracting over 9 million tourists every year. It’s the largest country in Oceania and the sixth-largest country in the world, some of the most popular tourist destinations here include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra. Making the decision to visit Australia is a massive one due to the extremely high flight prices and super long flight times. Even when taking this into account so many people decide to take the plunge and visit Australia because it’s described as a paradise by those who visit and most who go, never want to leave. We’ve found the main reasons you should consider making the trip to Australia in 2021.
